A list of free and paid attractions for a British experience

The Tower of London is on every list of attractions in Britain, being one of the most popular places in the whole country. With a number of over 2 million visitors annually, this UNESCO heritage has been a royal palace, a prison and a fortress, famous for the prisoners held here and tortured - Guy Fawkes, Anne Boleyne or Queen Elizabeth I. Now it holds the priceless Crown Jewels and is reported to be the most haunted building in London.

Another top attraction is Stonehenge, located near Salisbury, in the Wiltshire countryside. Believed to be the remains of a ceremonial or religious center, a burial place, a healing centre or an enormous calendar, the Stonehenge is one of the most important prehistoric sites in the world.

The official residence of Queen Elisabeth II, the Windsor Castle, including the wonderful State Apartments and St. George’s Chapel is also included in this list. It is considered to be the largest and oldest inhabited castle in the world.

Last, but not least, is the British Museum, the first national public museum in the world, also opened every day, having a number of 5.900.000 visitors annually. With a history of over 260 years, the museum has a large collection of artifacts from all over the world.
