Out of the Gloaming 14 September - 14 October 2012
RR Gallery is proud to present “Out of the Gloaming”. A multi media art exhibition showcasing the work of two artists based in West London and the West Country, Lisette de Roche and Lucy Lean.
Lucy finds living in a beautiful and tranquil part of Somerset gives her a connection to the natural world which she finds crucial to her ideas and inspiration. She is fascinated by the idea of a universal order that constructs pattern and form and the similarities that exist between the largest and smallest natural phenomenon.
She enjoys exploring and inventing her own organizing systems, and in doing so tries to reflect the variety and beauty of naturally occurring structures within the environment.
Some of her methods and techniques include manipulating fabric using simple arrangements of stitch, layering sheer fabrics, mono printing and painting and drawing.

Light also plays an important part in her work, giving depth and form and is an area she is slowly exploring.
Based in London; Lisette has worked as an interior decorator and designer with practical applications for the last 35 years, from painting commissions around the world to building an outdoor amphitheatre for herself in Somerset . Curiosity makes her an incorrigible skip diver and recycler of peculiar objects. A collector of antiques and inspired by colour, smells and past lives; her work varies depending on what's to hand. This time it's photographic glass negative plates and magic lantern slides from the 19th and early 20th Century. She has tried to find a way of bringing to light stories and lives; out of dusty old boxes stored away and all but forgotten - until now.
