The Drift

Down the road from The Mayor of Scaredy Cat Town is The Drift (www.thedriftbar.co.uk), taking up a sizeable two-floor venue in the spanking new Heron Tower on Bishopsgate. It’s from the same stable as nearby City bar/restaurants The Anthologist and The Folly, so you can expect a contemporary styled casual space with different seating, eating and drinking options depending on your mood.

The long bars are great for lunchtime and after-work beer and wine sessions but you can also choose from various cozy nooks and crannies and there are plenty of tables and chairs if you’re in the mood to eat too. There’s a mix logy table, which basically means small groups can get their own dedicated bartender to make bespoke cocktails for them – make a reservation for this special treatment. If you’re not looking for that personal factor, choose from a surprisingly innovative list of original cocktails – the menu has been created by the guys behind Purl in Marylebone, one of London’s most inventive bars, augmented by original drinks concocted by staff at The Drift and its sister venues.

There’s a range of calorie-controlled ‘skinny’ drinks and many of the well-presented drinks come with tasty and complementary amuse bouches, served by friendly staff with enthusiastic personalities.
